One of the most requested shows to watch when my youngest patients sit in my dental chair is CoComelon, and more often than not, it’s like a sprinkle of magic fairy dust. These littlest kiddos sit in a trance while I clean their teeth and sing along with them. So naturally when Burst came out with a CoComelon electric toothbrush I was very eager to get my hands on it and try it out!
The team at Burst was kind enough to send me a toothbrush and toothpaste to review, however all opinions stated here are my own and I was not compensated for this review.
And with that, let’s get this adventure started!
The Burst CoComelon electric toothbrush’s biggest claim is that it gets younger children excited to brush their teeth… and that is a strong claim! The brush also prides itself with the ability to remove up to 26 times more plaque than a manual toothbrush as well as being easy to use for young children.
The Burst CoComelon electric toothbrush is built similarly to the other range of Burst electric toothbrushes. The size of the toothbrush head is small to be able to better brush in smaller mouths, while also having soft tapered bristles that are better able to reach in small spaces between teeth and under the gums.
The toothbrush delivers 31,000 sonic vibrations in its Standard Mode, but also has a gentler, yet still effective Sensitive Mode. The battery life of all Burst toothbrushes is quite good, and the CoComelon brush is no exception. Typically one overnight charge will allow the toothbrush to stay fully charged for about 4 weeks!
And now the CoComelon specifics- the toothbrush itself comes in 2 different colors with each having CoComelon graphics on the front and back of the brush. The toothbrush also comes with a QR code that you will find on various places throughout the inner packaging as well as on a handy mirror cling sticker inside the box. This QR code, when scanned with your phone’s camera, will take you to some exclusive CoComelon content. The content includes a fun CoComelon brushing video as well as other fun and helpful things such as a toothbrushing chart and coloring pages!
On opening the box I felt that the whole unpackaging process was fun… although let’s be honest, most kids who enjoy CoComelon are not unpackaging their new toothbrush. Upon taking the toothbrush out of the package I immediately recognized the soft silicone grip that I know and love on my girls Burst toothbrush, it makes the brush easy to grip and feels very soft on the hands. The toothbrush head design as also similar to the Burst kids version that my girls have, a smaller head with the tapered bristles. The buttons and sonic vibration also worked the same as the kids Burst version. The CoComelon designs on the brush were fairly subdued in my opinion, but I also think that’s not a bad thing as it does not distract with the act of toothbrushing itself.
The thing I was most excited to try out was the scanning of the QR code to see the exclusive content. As the content is exclusive I can not divulge too much here, but I will say that I think the content will be the thing that is the most motivating for young kids to enjoy brushing their teeth. There is an included song and accompanying video and for any child who enjoys CoComelon I think that alone will go a long way in making the routine of oral hygiene a fun one.
In my opinion I think the Burst CoComelon electric toothbrush is great to get younger kids truly excited and motivated to brush but also without too many bells and whistles to be over the top. Sometimes toothbrushes designed for children have too many functions or steps involved and the novelty factor may wear off quickly leaving a child no more motivated to brush than they were before. The Burst CoComelon brush is great in the sense that it is a relatively no frills electric toothbrush that is effective at getting the teeth clean, but also with an included few extra features that can help a child have a little more fun with brushing.
As far as effectiveness, this is not necessarily more effective than other children’s electric toothbrushes, including the original BurstKids toothbrush, however the unique feature here is the CoComelon features and exclusive content that will excite younger children who may find brushing more difficult. All parents know that toddlers like to be in charge… they want what they want, right!? Well what if they want to watch CoComelon? Well then in this instance, your problem may be solved!
The other great thing about this toothbrush is that it is really no more expensive than the regular Burst Kids Electric Toothbrush, and also comparable in price to other rechargeable kids electric toothbrushes on the market. The retail price for the Burst CoComelon toothbrush is $69.99 although you can often find a discount on that price.

Burst Kids Toothpaste
And just a quick note about Burst Kids Toothpaste. Just like CoComelon is the most popular requested show of the younger patients in my office, Marshmallow is the most requested toothpaste flavor in this age group. My own children continued to ask for marshmallow toothpaste at home after having their cleaning in our office and using this flavor. Surprisingly, this flavor is actually hard to find outside of the dental office! So when Burst sent me their toothpastes to try recently and I saw the Marshmallow flavor I was excited!
Burst has 3 flavors of kids toothpaste: Strawberry Superstar, Marshmallow Sparkle, and Bubblegum Bonanza. The strawberry flavor is fluoride-free while the other two flavors contain fluoride. I personally brushed with all 3 flavors and found all 3 to be yummy, with the Bubblegum actually being my favorite. The toothpastes were a bit runny in my opinion, however they were still able to clean the mouth well so that is what’s most important.
These toothpastes are great for a few reasons. The first is that they are low in abrasives which is great for younger children who tend to place too much pressure when brushing. They are also free of SLS, artificial sweeteners, flavors, dyes, and phthalates.
In my opinion however, the toothpaste is a bit on the pricey side - $8.99 for a single tube or $6.99 each on an auto ship subscription every 12 weeks. In the end, if any of these flavors make the difference in your child wanting to brush their teeth or not, then the extra few dollars is likely well worth it!
